Any questions?

In this page you'll find useful answers to frequent questions about how our services work, what We do, contractual matters, working hours, and more.
If you wish to ask something directly, don't hesitate! Just visit the contact page by clicking in the button below and We will be happy to answer:
What areas do you serve for overnight and daytime support?

We currently serve families in New York, Connecticut and New Jersey. Virtual support is available no matter where you live.

What areas do you serve 24h and travel support?

We serve anywhere in the US for 24/7 for at least 3 weeks support and travel anywhere inside or  outside of the country.

When should we book your services?

The sooner the better. Many families book during pregnancy to secure their preferred dates, especially for postpartum and overnight support. However, if your baby is already here, reach out to us and we will do our best to accommodate your needs and happily support you.

Are your services covered by insurance?

Carrot insurance covers Postpartum Doula, if you are working with them let us know so we can work with them too. Most traditional insurance plans do not cover doula or newborn care services, but some HSAs/FSAs may reimburse part of the cost for postpartum doula. We’re happy to provide invoices you can submit for possible reimbursement.

*Reimbursements are not guaranteed by Sleepy One Newborn Care

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. I know support is an investment, and I want it to feel as accessible as possible. We can discuss payment plan options during our consultation.

How do I get started?

You can start by booking a free assessment call or filling out the contact form. We’ll talk about your needs, see if we’re a good fit, and create a support plan that feels right for your family.

What does a postpartum doula do?

A postpartum doula supports the whole family during the early weeks and months after birth—emotionally, physically, and practically. This can include emotional support, education, newborn care, light household help such as baby’s laundry, nursery tidy up during ongoing care, wash and cut up fruits to make healthy snacks handy, and guidance as you adjust to life with a new baby.

What is a Newborn Care Specialist?

A newborn care specialist focuses specifically on the care, comfort, and routine of your newborn, especially in the first weeks and months. This often includes overnight care, establishing healthy sleep habits, feeding support, and helping parents feel confident with baby care.

How is a Postpartum Doula or Newborn Care Specialist different from a nanny?

A nanny’s primary role is childcare. A postpartum doula’s role is to care for the entire family well-being during the transition after birth. We support parents emotionally, help with recovery, offer newborn education, feeding support, and handle the baby’s needs so you can rest and heal.

What kind of tasks do you help with?
  • Newborn care (diapering, soothing, bathing, swaddling)
  • Feeding support (breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding, chest feeding)
  • Emotional support and space to process your birth and postpartum experience
  • Wash and cut up fruits (provided by the client) and creating a snack station
  • Light tidying related to baby and postpartum care
  • Helping you learn baby cues, sleep patterns, and soothing techniques

We are able to always tailor support to your preferences and needs.

How long do families usually work with a postpartum doula or Newborn Care Specialist?

It depends on your needs. Some families book a few weeks of support, while others like more ongoing support over several months to have support navigating those first growth spurts. We have a minimum of 3 weeks contracts and we can create a package that feels right for you.
